The purpose of this policy is to provide a control mechanism to assure that applicable specifications for safety design features are reviewed and considered when purchasing products for Appalachian State University. This policy is designed to assure compliance with the North Carolina Office of State Personnel`s requirement for the pre-purchase review of products to ensure that all items purchased incorporate the appropriate safety features and are safe for use. 1 Introduction

The purpose of this policy is to provide a control mechanism to assure that applicable specifications for safety design features are reviewed and considered when purchasing products for Appalachian State University. This policy is designed to assure compliance with the North Carolina Office of State Personnel`s requirement for the pre-purchase review of products to ensure that all items purchased incorporate the appropriate safety features and are safe for use. This includes, but is not limited to, the purchase of equipment, chemicals, hazardous materials, and consumable products.
